The unit is compatible with a back up camera and has a REVERSE signal wire at the back. This is what I tried. Connected the Yellow video wire from back of HU to Camera. The other wire on the camera I connected to the reverse lights. The positive from camera to positive on the reverse light wires. Did the same with negative.

just as a quick idea, you could try and remove the pin for the reverse trigger wire. This should be what the plug looks like on the back: My documents I have say pin 2 is the reverse signal wire. I would think without the wire, it wouldn't know to go to the reverse mode. Now this is for an 08 so I don't know if it will be the same for a 2011 ...
